Paint Protection Film (PPF) at DC, Maduravoyal

Paint Protection Film is the most comprehensive physical protection available for your car's paintwork. Unlike ceramic or graphene coating โ€” which protect against UV, chemicals, and water โ€” PPF is a thick, optically clear urethane film that absorbs stone chips, road debris impacts, scratches, and abrasion before they reach the paint surface. It is the difference between paint that looks factory-fresh after three years on Chennai's roads, and paint that doesn't.

DC installs PPF from leading international and Indian brands at our studio in Maduravoyal โ€” including LLumar, Madico, Saint-Gobain, Garware, and Dealock. Every installation is done by trained technicians using precision-cut film profiles specific to your car's make and model. DC will recommend the right brand and grade for your car, usage, and budget at the time of consultation.

What Paint Protection Film Does

Stone chip and impact protection

This is PPF's primary function and where it has no equivalent. Chennai's roads โ€” particularly highway stretches and newly-laid surfaces โ€” throw up gravel and debris that chips paint at speed. A single stone chip on a bonnet can cost thousands to repair properly and affects resale value immediately. PPF absorbs these impacts completely, with the film taking the damage instead of your paint.

Self-healing surface

Premium PPF grades have a self-healing topcoat โ€” fine surface scratches and light abrasions disappear on their own when the film warms up in sunlight or with warm water. This means the film stays optically clear and scuff-free without any intervention, and maintains the appearance of the paint beneath it.

UV and chemical protection

PPF also blocks UV radiation and resists chemical etching from bird droppings, tree sap, and industrial fallout โ€” providing the same chemical protection that ceramic coating offers, but with the added physical protection layer that ceramic cannot provide.

Paint preservation for resale

Cars with PPF-protected paint consistently command higher resale prices and are easier to sell. A car whose bonnet, front bumper, and door edges show zero stone chips or scratches after three years of Chennai driving is immediately more appealing to a used car buyer โ€” and the PPF can be shown as documented protection.

PPF Brands Available at DC

DC works with multiple PPF brands so we can match the right film to your car and requirements rather than pushing a single product:

  • LLumar PPF: One of the most trusted window and paint protection film brands globally. LLumar PPF offers excellent optical clarity, strong self-healing performance, and proven long-term durability in high-UV markets. A strong all-round choice for most cars.
  • Madico PPF: US-manufactured film with a strong track record in high-heat, high-UV conditions. Madico's premium grades offer excellent stone chip resistance and colour stability over time.
  • Saint-Gobain PPF: French-manufactured film from one of the world's largest glass and surface protection companies. Saint-Gobain PPF is well-regarded for optical clarity and adhesion performance in tropical climates.
  • Garware PPF: Indian-manufactured film with a strong domestic market reputation. Garware offers solid stone chip and UV protection at a competitive price point โ€” a practical choice for owners who want reliable PPF coverage without the premium brand cost.
  • Dealock PPF: A performance-grade film with strong self-healing properties and high-gloss finish. Suitable for owners who prioritise surface self-repair and want a consistently glossy film surface.

DC will explain the differences between available grades and brands at the time of your consultation and give you a clear recommendation based on your car, typical usage, and budget.

PPF Coverage Options at DC

DC offers PPF in different coverage levels depending on your protection priorities and budget:

  • Zone protection (partial front): The most common entry point โ€” covers the bonnet leading edge, front bumper, headlights, and wing mirrors. These are the highest-impact zones that take 80% of all stone chip damage on a typical car. Ideal for owners who want protection where it matters most at a controlled cost.
  • Full front end: Complete bonnet, full front bumper, full front wings, headlights, and wing mirrors. Comprehensive front-end protection for cars that do significant highway mileage or owners who want full front coverage.
  • Full body PPF: Every external painted panel โ€” bonnet, bumpers, all doors, boot lid, roof, wings. Maximum protection, most commonly chosen for luxury cars, SUVs, and premium vehicles where paint condition is critical to ownership experience and resale value.
  • Custom zones: DC can apply PPF to specific areas based on your car's vulnerability โ€” door handle cups, door edge guards, boot sill protection, A-pillar wrap, and rocker panels. Discuss your specific requirements at the time of booking.

PPF Combined with Graphene or Ceramic Coating

PPF and coating are complementary, not competing. DC's recommended approach for new car owners who want complete protection is to install PPF on high-impact zones (front end or full body), then apply Artdeshine graphene or ceramic coating over the entire car โ€” including over the PPF film itself. This gives you physical impact protection where you need it most, and chemical and UV protection across every surface. The coated PPF surface is also easier to maintain and keep clean. The PPF Installation Process at DC

  • Stage 1 โ€” Paint inspection and decontamination: The car is thoroughly washed, iron-decontaminated, and inspected for existing paint defects. Any scratches or chips beneath the PPF zone are documented and the owner is advised before installation begins.
  • Stage 2 โ€” Paint correction if required: If the paint beneath the PPF area has swirl marks or surface defects, machine polishing is performed first. PPF installed over defective paint seals those defects in permanently.
  • Stage 3 โ€” Film cutting and preparation: Film patterns are computer-cut to match your specific car model's panel dimensions โ€” no hand-cutting on the car's paint surface.
  • Stage 4 โ€” Wet application: Film is applied using a slip solution and professional squeegees. Edges are tucked into panel gaps and door jambs where possible for a seamless finish with no exposed film edges.
  • Stage 5 โ€” Curing: The film cures over 24โ€“48 hours at DC's studio. During this period the car should not be washed and windows should not be wound down.
  • Stage 6 โ€” Inspection and handover: Every panel is inspected under lighting for bubbles, edge lifting, and contamination trapped under the film before the car is released.

Frequently Asked Questions โ€” PPF

Is PPF visible on the car?
Quality PPF applied by trained installers is optically clear and virtually invisible in normal viewing conditions. The film has a slight texture that may be visible under certain lighting angles on very dark colours, but is not noticeable in daily use. Matte PPF finishes are also available for cars with matte or satin factory paint.

How long does PPF last?
Depending on the brand and grade installed, DC's PPF films are rated for 5โ€“10 years. LLumar, Madico, and Saint-Gobain premium grades typically carry a 7โ€“10 year manufacturer warranty. Garware and Dealock grades are rated for 5โ€“7 years. DC will advise on the warranty and expected service life for the specific film recommended for your car.

Can PPF be removed without damaging the paint?
Yes โ€” properly installed PPF can be removed without damaging the paint underneath, provided the paint is in good condition and the film has not been left beyond its service life. DC can advise on removal when the time comes.

Should I get PPF or ceramic coating?
They protect against different threats. PPF protects against physical damage โ€” stone chips, scratches, abrasion. Ceramic coating protects against UV, water spots, and chemicals, and adds gloss. For complete protection, DC recommends both. If budget requires a choice: PPF on the front end if you do highway driving; ceramic coating if your car is primarily city-driven and you want UV and maintenance benefits.

How long does PPF installation take?
Zone protection (partial front) takes 1 day. Full front end takes 1โ€“2 days. Full body PPF takes 3โ€“5 days depending on the car's size and complexity. The car needs to remain at DC's studio during installation and the initial curing period.

How much does PPF cost at DC?
PPF pricing depends on the coverage zone, car size, and film grade. Contact DC at +91 97511 51192 for a quote specific to your vehicle and coverage requirement.
