Mahindra BE 6E PPF and Ceramic Coating Guide โ€” Protect Your Electric SUV

You just spent between Rs. 18 and Rs. 27 lakh on a Mahindra BE 6e. It is sitting in your parking spot, looking extraordinary. The paint is flawless. The panels are clean. The Burnt Umber or Mystique Copper finish is turning heads every time you drive out.

Now consider what Chennai does to that paint over the next twelve months.

The Threat Is Real — And Chennai Makes It Worse

A new car's paint starts deteriorating from the moment it leaves the showroom. This is not an exaggeration — it is chemistry and physics working against your investment every single day.

Solar UV radiation is the primary aggressor. Chennai sits at 13 degrees north latitude with one of the highest UV indices in India, year-round. UV radiation breaks down the molecular structure of automotive clear coat. The process is invisible at first — you will not notice it until the paint looks dull and flat two or three years in, and by then the damage is already done.

Heat compounds this. A black or dark-coloured car parked in Chennai's open sun can see panel surface temperatures exceeding 80 degrees Celsius. Thermal expansion and contraction cycles stress the clear coat over time. Interior surfaces — dashboard, seats, door trims — absorb infrared radiation and degrade even faster without protection.

Road debris is a constant threat on Chennai's roads. Stone chips, sand particles, grit thrown up by trucks on the Poonamallee highway, speed breaker scrapes — these create micro-scratches and impact damage on the front bumper, bonnet, and lower panels that are impossible to fully reverse.

Bird droppings and tree sap are chemically aggressive. Left on paint for even a few hours in Chennai's heat, they etch into the clear coat permanently. The organic acids in bird droppings accelerate dramatically at high temperatures.

Monsoon water and road splash carry dissolved pollutants, industrial fallout, and tar particles that bond to paint and cause water spots and staining if not addressed.

The BE 6e is a premium vehicle. It deserves premium protection. The good news — all of this is preventable.

The Three-Layer Protection Stack

At DC, we approach new car protection as a complete package rather than a single treatment. Three layers working together give the BE 6e comprehensive protection from every threat Chennai can throw at it.

Layer 1: Paint Protection Film (PPF) — Physical Defence

PPF is a thick, optically clear polyurethane film applied directly to the paint surface. It is the only protection that physically absorbs impact — stone chips, scratches, and abrasion cannot penetrate it to reach the paint underneath.

For the BE 6e, the high-risk zones are the front bumper, bonnet, front fenders, door edges, and the lower rocker panels. These are the areas that take the most punishment from road debris and everyday use. PPF on these zones means that stone chips and scratches happen to the film, not the paint.

Modern PPF has self-healing properties — minor scratches in the film surface disappear with heat exposure. Wash swirls and light contact marks vanish on their own. The film is invisible when installed correctly and does not alter the appearance of the paint in any way.

DC installs PPF from LLumar, Garware, Madico, and Deadlock — each available in different grades from essential coverage to full-body wraps depending on your budget and how comprehensively you want the car protected.

Partial PPF covers the highest-impact zones — front bumper, bonnet, fenders, door edges, and mirrors. This is the most popular choice for new car buyers who want meaningful protection without a full-body budget.

Full-body PPF covers every painted panel. This is the maximum protection option and makes particular sense for the BE 6e's premium paint finishes like Burnt Umber and Mystique Copper, which are difficult and expensive to touch up or repaint if damaged.

Layer 2: Ceramic or Graphene Coating — Chemical and UV Defence

Where PPF handles physical protection, ceramic and graphene coatings handle chemical and environmental protection. These are nano-ceramic compounds that bond permanently to the paint surface, creating a hard, hydrophobic layer that repels water, blocks UV radiation, resists chemical etching, and makes the surface significantly easier to clean.

A coated car sheds water, bird droppings, dust, and road grime far more easily than an uncoated one. Washing takes less time and causes less swirl damage because contaminants do not bond to the surface the way they do on bare paint. The coating also adds significant depth and gloss to the paint — the BE 6e's metallic and special finishes look noticeably richer under a quality ceramic coating.

Graphene coating is the premium option — it outperforms standard ceramic in heat resistance (critical in Chennai), water spot resistance, and durability. DC is an Artdeshine authorised installer, and Artdeshine's graphene coating is one of the most advanced products available in the Indian market. For a car like the BE 6e, graphene coating is the right choice.

Ceramic and graphene coatings last three to five years with proper maintenance. The coating bonds at a molecular level — it cannot be washed off or removed by rain or normal washing.

Layer 3: Sunfilm — Heat and UV Defence for Cabin and Paint

The third layer addresses what PPF and ceramic coating cannot fully solve — solar heat and infrared radiation entering through the glass.

A quality window film on the BE 6e's glass does several things simultaneously. It blocks up to 99 percent of UV radiation that would otherwise damage the cabin — the dashboard, the leather or fabric seats, the door trims. It rejects 40 to 70 percent of solar heat depending on the grade, which means the cabin stays cooler when parked and the AC reaches temperature faster when you start driving.

For an electric vehicle, this matters beyond comfort. Every degree of cabin cooling that the AC does not have to provide is battery range preserved. In Chennai's climate, a good sunfilm installation on an EV is not just a comfort upgrade — it is a range efficiency upgrade.

DC installs sunfilm from LLumar, 3M, Garware, and Madico. Ceramic window films are the premium option — they reject significantly more heat than standard dyed or carbon films while maintaining better optical clarity, particularly at night.

Why Protection Matters More for the BE 6e Specifically

EV resale dynamics are different. The Indian EV market is still maturing and resale values for electric vehicles are heavily influenced by perceived condition. A BE 6e with pristine paint and a well-maintained interior will command a significantly better resale price than one showing paint damage and interior wear. Protection is an investment in resale value, not just aesthetics.

Mahindra's special paint finishes are expensive to repair. The BE 6e's premium colour options — particularly the metallic and special effect finishes — require specialist paint matching for repairs. A single stone chip on a standard panel can cost Rs. 8,000 to Rs. 15,000 to repair properly. Full PPF coverage costs less than two or three such repairs over the car's lifetime.

The battery generates heat. EVs run warmer at the panel level than equivalent petrol cars due to battery and motor heat. This slightly elevated thermal environment makes UV and chemical protection more important, not less. A ceramic or graphene coating's heat resistance properties are particularly valuable here.

You bought it to look good. The BE 6e is a design-forward vehicle. Mahindra put considerable effort into its proportions, its surfaces, and its paint options. Keeping that paint in showroom condition for years is what protection is for.

What DC Does

DC is a 3,000 sq.ft. premium detailing studio in Maduravoyal, on the 200ft Bypass Service Road near Poonamallee. We work exclusively on premium services — paint correction, ceramic and graphene coating, PPF, sunfilm, and wraps.

We are an Artdeshine authorised installer — one of very few studios in Chennai with this certification. Artdeshine's graphene coating products are manufactured to standards that most generic ceramic coatings in the market do not reach.

Every new car that comes to DC goes through a controlled process. Paint is decontaminated and inspected before any coating or film is applied. PPF is cut to template and applied in a dust-controlled environment. Coatings are applied in layers with cure time between applications. Sunfilm is fitted with precision-cut templates for each window profile.

We do not rush. A proper full protection package on a new car takes one to two days depending on the scope of work. The result is protection that lasts years, not weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I get PPF or ceramic coating first — or both together? Both together, ideally at the same time on a new car. PPF goes on first, then ceramic coating is applied over the PPF and on all unfilmed panels. Doing both in one visit means the paint is only decontaminated and prepared once, and you get complete protection from day one.

Can I apply PPF on the BE 6e's matte or special finish paint? Yes. DC uses PPF grades specifically designed for matte and special effect finishes. Standard gloss PPF should not be used on matte paint — it will alter the finish. Tell us your colour and finish when you book and we will confirm the right product.

How long does the full protection package take? A partial PPF + graphene coating + sunfilm package typically takes one full day. A full-body PPF package takes two days. We will confirm the timeline when you book based on the scope you choose.

Will the sunfilm affect the BE 6e's ADAS sensors? This is an important question for any modern car. High-quality ceramic window films from LLumar and 3M are designed to be transparent to radar and sensor frequencies used in ADAS systems. We will confirm film compatibility with the BE 6e's specific sensor placement before installation.

What maintenance does the protection package need? Very little. Ceramic and graphene coatings are maintenance-free beyond regular washing. PPF is cleaned as part of normal washing — no special products needed. Sunfilm requires no maintenance at all. The protection works passively.
